While we ask our patients to work hard in order to acheive their potential in therapy, we believe in using games, laughter, silliness, and love to motivate and encourage our patients. We believe every child has the ability to succeed and make significant progress when therapy is done the right way.

Innovative’s intensive therapy program is customized to fit the needs of each child. It consists of physical and occupational therapy for up to four hours per day, five days per week for three weeks. Longer or shorter intensive sessions may be recommended for some patients as needed. All intensive sessions include physical and occupational therapy evaluations, plans of care including goals, a complete home exercise program including pictures of your child performing the exercises, and a "before and after" video. We refer our patients who need speech and language therapy to world-renowned speech therapist Debra Beckman. Please see our "Other Therapies" page for more information.

A typical day of intensive therapy includes:

  • 30-60 minutes of preparation time, including moist heat, massage, soft tissue lengthening techniques, stretching, and sensory preparation.
  • One hour of exercises and functional activities in the Therasuit.
  • One hour of exercises and functional activities in the cage.
  • 30-60 minutes of focused occupational therapy time, including fine motor activities, dressing, feeding, and other daily living skills.
  • One 15 minute break.

However, these times vary depending on each child's individual needs.

Neuro-Developmental Treatment

Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) is the most widely-recognized method of treating children with cerebral palsy and individuals who have had a stroke. It focuses on handling techniques to maximize proximal stability in the body to give improved postural control and functional mobility. Two of our therapists are Pediatric NDT Certified. Visit www.ndta.org to learn more about NDT.
